2020 is almost done ladies and gentlemen! Yay! While things are not going to change in the first part of 2021, I am looking forward to what may come near the end of the year. Maybe I can do some small trips? Maybe I can hug my mom and dad again or maybe I can have a lindy hop dance with a stranger! Who knows! Whatever it is, it’s pretty darn exciting and I can’t wait.
Now for today’s post….I have done multiple posts on New Years in the past (hence the part 3) so I’m just going to build on what I have done and ask that you check out the fun in my other NYE posts, at the end of this post.

It’s Midnight! Time for that Kiss! 1960s vintage photo of a couple kissing at their home bar while wearing NYE party favors.

Raymond Moriyama and his sister Joan at a friend’s house on New Year’s Eve, December 31st, 1949. How cute are these two?!

1950s photo of a group of women in fantastic 1950s dresses all gathered in the dining room during a New Years Eve party. I just adore the table decor, don’t you?

It’s always important that the drinks keep coming on NYE (boozy or the virgin kind), even if you have to look at a book on how to make them. This is a funny 1960s photo of a group of party goers trying to figure out how to make their next drinks. Question: What is the man on the right holding?

1920s New Years Eve party group photo! Looks like everyone is having a great time, even the guy holding a drum (?) in the background haha.

1953 New Year’s Eve Black Tie “mostly” mandatory party (Gosh those 1950s dresses are divine!). I’m trying to figure out if they are in the back room of a restaurant because it feels very industrial (beside the curtains).

I will end this last blog post of 2020 with a photo that pretty much sums up what I had HOPED my New Years Eve would of been like (plus I feel like this lady is my spirit animal). Me in a pretty 1960s dress, with a party hat, drink in my hand celebrating with friends in their home bar (I do love a vintage home bar). Sigh…Oh well next year friends!

As you can see NYE has always been a big deal! There’s something so charming about these vintage celebrations. They really knew how to live back then! Happy New Year, Liz!
Yup it’s always been a good time even in hard times. Happy New Year!
Hey Liz, Great photos… and I checked out your previous entries as well. Actually, I stumbled across your photo of Cab Calloway conducting his band at a party. I am trying to pin down the original photo used as the backdrop for the Overlook Hotel party in the final scene from The Shining. I get a feeling that the fellow Jack Nicholson was airbrushed over may have been the bandleader and many of the folks are wearing heart-shaped badges, so maybe a Valentine party? Anyway, classic 1920s. A lot to unpack. Kubrick said he found the original in a photo library, so it seems with all our modern digital prowess it would be easy enough to locate… but it’s a real bugger. Thanks for all you do. Your passion shows! https://theoverlookhotel.com/post/33841162601/the-original-unaltered-period-photo-into-which
Oh wow! I have never seen the Shining (can’t do scary movies) so I will take your word for what your saying. Thanks though for sharing your thoughts on how the scene imagery came to be and thanks for the kind words. Happy New year!
