Vintage Yearbook Cover: 1949 “Hematite” of Ishpeming high school in Ishpeming, Michigan

I’m a BIG fan of vintage yearbooks, the goodies that are stored inside are a vintage photo lovers DREAM!

BUT today’s post is not going to be on what’s IN the book (You can see inside some HERE) but what awaited you BEFORE you opened it’s hallowed pages. Honestly many were wonderful works of art, typography that reflected the time and sometimes even impressive images of the school itself.

Check it all out below!

  1. I’m glad someone else appreciates old yearbooks! I have about 100 now, and sometimes, the covers are soooo amazing. Sometimes they’re cushy and leathery. Some are falling apart at the spine (so am I), and make me sad. Sometimes it’s just the font that’s so fun!

    • Oh my gosh..yes the feel of the yearbooks! Wish I could convey that thru my blog post. I’m so glad that you love yearbooks as much as I. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your passion!

  2. Oooo…my aunts and uncles recently dug up their old yearbooks. They attended their school reunion and part of the event program also had cool little tid bits of trivia and facts. But the thing I loved most, was reading the hand-written notes their classmates left for them back in the 50s. It was truly touching.
