Vintage Vacation Anyone? Vintage Travel Advertisements

If you read my blog then you know that I was just in Las Vegas for “Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend“. It was a fun weekend of amazing bands, dancing, vintage shopping, retro pool parties, vintage car show and 1000’s of well dressed 1940’s and 1950’s ladies and men. For 4 days I really felt like I was on a “Vintage Vacation” and it is really really hard being at work today.

Me at work today 🙂

I’m currently going thru all my pictures, friends pictures etc. of my trip but while I do that lets take a look at some vintage travel ads and maybe help plan your own vintage vacation in the near or distant future (Scroll to the end for other Vintage Travel posts I have done).

Fly to Spain with TWA.

Ahhh Spain, that would be a beautiful and wonderful vacation (of which I’m going to in June for a wedding).

I grew up in South Western Ontario right on the border with Michigan so I have spent a lot of time in that State. Wonderful state to visit with lots of water activities courtesy of the 4 Great Lakes.

I have been to Cuba many many times as I just find it to be a beautiful and fun country to visit. You can’t get anymore “vintage” than Havana with all its vintage 1950’s cars and Art Deco buildings.

1950s Greyhound Bus Ad. This ad is not taking you anywhere in particular but it’s a great Spring ad and it allows you to dream of all the places you could go..in comfort of course.

Visit Brazil with Braniff International Airways. Brazil..Sun, Sand, glorious music and yummy food. That would be one amazing vintage vacation!

1950s / 1960s advertisement. This ad sure does make Rhode Island look mighty appealing, I might have to visit it one day.

1950s Vintage ad: Delta to Miami…trunk line to Sunshine.

Miami….nuff said. I also, I love the idea of getting off a plane and just heading right into the pool HA!

Are you up for a Quickie vintage vacation in the Soutwest Sun Country? TWA can help you out!

Now with all this travelling one does need the perfect outfit for each location. It looks like Frederick’s Hollywood has thought out all those details with some of the most amazing dresses and swimsuits. WOW!

Do You Have An Easter Parade Hat? Vintage Hat Inspiration

As I’m writing this post, I’m making the finishing touches on my trip to Las Vegas for the Viva Rockabilly Weekend and quickly realizing that Easter is this weekend. Mmm chocolate eggs, getting together with family, mmm chocolate eggs lol! 🙂 Easter will be spent in Vegas again but my parents are coming to the weekend as well so that should be a fun and different experience for us.

For this year I thought it would be fun to pack a pretty fascinator for Sunday night so I can have my own Easter Parade at Viva as I always miss the one that was usually put on here in Toronto. Sadly the event is not officially happening this year but I’m still paying homage to the Easter Parade tradition on my end.

Now if I could have packed a big hat I would have brought my green one below but my suitcase is all ready jammed to the hills so I had to think teeny tiny small and so I’m bringing my recent vintage clothing show find, also below.

This number for sale from Etsy seller ‘concettascloset‘, is beautiful and really a showpiece I must say.

I think the colour of this 1940s number is perfect for an “Easter Parade/aka spring is finally” here hat.

I’m a blonde so wearing this yellow 1950s hat would really never work but I was so drawn to the uniqueness of it that I had to share it with you.

This 1950s pillbox hat is so Liz it is ridiculous! Sadly the price does not work with my budget but I will add it to my “I would buy it if I had all the money in the world” wish list.

The cutout detail on this lavender 1940s hat is wonderful and so very different and I just love how the trim meets that cutout. Very creative and perfect for strolling down the avenue.

I think I will end this blog with the most interesting option for an Easter Parade hat that I have ever seen. It is a 1940s Caspar-Davis creation and it so different and strange but yet beautiful that you would really truly stand out if you wore this on Easter. What are your thoughts on this hat? Would you wear it?

You can purchase this on Etsy from “Poppycock Vintage
